Drugs Regional Council


It was established in pursuance of the drugs and addictive substances control act (State Gazette issue 56/2003). It was composed by a chairman (a deputy social and humanitarian activity mayor), a secretary and members of the Regional administration, the Regional court, the Regional prosecution office, the Regional evidence service, the regional struggle against the organized criminality, the customs office - Sliven, the regional healthcare centre, the regional health protection and control, the regional education inspectorate - Ministry of Education, "Social Assistance" - Agency of Social Support, Municipal Committee for Struggle Against Anti-social Behaviour of Minor and Under Aged Children., Bulgarian Red Cross, The Medical Nurse College - Sliven, a doctor, a psychiatrist, BNA. It is in session at least four times a year.

The basic fields of activity are connected to developing an educational programme for increasing society’s sensitivity to the use of drugs, alcohol and smoking, for developing and applying a long - lasting initial preventive programme at schools. It is achieved with the help of health institutions and non-governmental organizations as well as the Interior Ministry Office in Sliven, etc.
