The children and young people centre is a specialized institution for problem children with a sixty – place capacity. The main diagnosis of the people who live there is a moderate intellectual backwardness but some of the social service users have additional diseases: malformations, epilepsy, child palsy, Daun syndrome, strabismus, a progressive muscle dystrophy, and ferment insufficiency.
The offered social services at the institution are: upbringing, taking care of, education and rehabilitation of the accommodated children.
The equipment is comparatively good. The centre has equipped rooms for kinesitherapy, healing massage, paraffin, a gym which has rehabilitation modules, a dry pool, and a logopedist office.
The education–upbringing and correction-compensating work is done according to programs approved by the Ministry of Labour and Social Politics. The groups are formed according to psycho–physical and mental abilities of the users. Nine teachers with a nursery, elementary and social pedagogy, a psychologist, a logopedist and an occupational therapist run education and keep a strong–regime observation. 11 children attend "Dr. Vlasaki Shumanov" subsidiary school in Sliven and 6 children study at the Centre where a defectologist helps them.
There is a 24–hour medical service held by a podiatrist and 5 nurses at the centre.
By lessons, conversations, holidays and other events we try to raise the quality of the offered social services and create beneficial conditions for the perfection of our activity.
